ABSTRACT

No company can achieve its goals if it does not have the right set of employees. The employees are the asset of the company and determine the success of the company. So companies put in extensive efforts in recruiting right candidates for their company. One factor that is being overlooked by most of the company owners is employee satisfaction and this factor affects the performance of the company.

Various surveys and researches have known and shown that employee satisfaction plays a pivotal role in performance of the candidate. If any company wants to draw out the best from its employees then it should provide best means to satisfy the needs and requirements. Before one can know various ways to facilitate employee satisfaction, it is essential to understand what does it actually means.

The company’s ability in successfully providing the physical, emotional and psychological requirements of its employees is known as employee satisfaction. Employee Satisfaction in simple terms is how contented are the employees at work. Dissatisfied employees produce lesser than their capabilities thus resulting in lower turnover. So innovative factors can be used along with traditional ones for high performance. This can be done in a bank as nowadays government sector banks have high stress due to the workload and their hr department as of now doesn’t have employee satisfaction surveys.

KEY WORDS:

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE:

The major objective is to identify unique factors of employee satisfaction in relationship with the employee performance.

BASIS OF THE RESEARCH:

Frederick Herzberg theorized that employee satisfaction has two dimensions: "hygiene" and motivation.

Hygiene issues, such as salary and supervision, decrease employees' dissatisfaction with the work environment. Motivators, such as recognition and achievement, make workers more productive, creative and committed. To measure employee satisfaction, many companies do mandatory surveys or face-to-face meetings with employees to gain information.

Both of these tactics have pros and cons surveys are often anonymous, allowing workers more freedom to be honest without fear of repercussion. Interviews with company management can feel intimidating, but if done correctly, they can let the worker know that his voice has been heard and concerns addressed by those in charge without being hurt of the officers noticing their views.

METHODS:

Data Collection:

Questionnaires (both in English and Tamil) can be prepared and administered on staff, executives, workers selected on systematic random sampling.

Data Analysis:

The data thus obtained is to converted into percentages separately for each branch of the bank  and then consolidated for obtaining the overall employee satisfaction level, this can be done with the help of excel and bar charts.

Reflections:

Employee Satisfaction Surveys addresses topics such as compensation, workload, flexibility, teamwork, achievement, resources, recognition and employee communication. There have been numerous studies associating high levels of employee job satisfaction but we should also consider other factors than the ordinary ones.

CONCLUSIONS:

Other innovative factors like Employee creativity, employee perceptions of management, company’s brand name, checking whether the personality of the employee matches the type of job being allotted to him, overall organizations culture, and autonomy can be included.

Employees might get bored of their routine in such cases innovative factors like job variety will be of great help. Engaging these type of factors organizations can get the best of results as these factors has not been thought of or considered in traditional employee satisfaction surveys. These innovative factors can help the organizations to improve and fulfill the needs of the employees to the maximum level thus making them more productive. This can be of great help as in banks the stress is high and employee satisfaction surveys in such type of organizations can be an eye opener to increase satisfaction and hence the performance.
